Frequently Asked Questions

What is CreditCardsCanada.ca?
There are a lot of choices when shopping for a new credit card. CreditCardsCanada.ca allows Canadian consumers and small business owners access to a database of credit card information which helps users compare and apply for the best cards.

Is it safe to apply for a credit card online?
Yes! All of the credit card applications are handled through a secure connection so you can be sure your personal information remains safe. All applications are submitted directly to the issuing bank. Credit Cards Canada does not access or process application data in any way.

Is every Canadian credit card listed on Credit Cards Canada?
Not yet. There are hundreds of credit cards available in the market from a handful of issuers. We’re working hard to add new cards, so check back regularly.

Can you help me find the best credit card?
Since everybody has a different credit profile and spending habits, we don’t provide individual card research. Think about how you will use the card and find one that best meets your needs.

What information do I need to apply for a credit card?
You will need to supply basic information about yourself including your name, address, Social Insurance Number, and employment and income details.

Can I apply for more than one card?
Yes, you can apply for multiple cards. Many people have more than one credit card in their wallet. However, issuers may decline your application if they feel you have too much outstanding credit available relative to your income level.

How long will it take to receive an application decision?
While some cards offer instant approval, others may take several weeks to process. Generally, people with established credit profiles will receive faster responses.

What happens if my application is declined?
If your application for a credit card is denied you will receive a letter in the mail describing the reasons for denial. Be sure to address any outstanding issues before applying again.
