If you're just getting started with credit or need to build your credit history, AND you want to earn rewards, The Cash Gold MasterCard from Capital One is a great option.

The card comes with 1% cash back rewards and a bundle of Gold MasterCard benefits including travel accident insurance, purchase assurance, extended warranty and more.

Compared with other Capital One cards, the annual fee is quite reasonable considering it's a "guaranteed" card. The interest rate is also on par with other rewards cards - even those targeted to people with excellent credit.
