Are you a loyal shopper? Get rewarded!

Many retailers offer reward programs to their loyal customers. Depending on the program, you can earn points or other incentives for purchases spent on products or services. So, if a large portion of your family budget goes towards Shoppers Drug Mart you could take advantage of their reward card and earn points for your everyday purchases. If you are a frequent traveler, an airline rewards card could be beneficial in helping you accrue miles towards a free flight.

Maximize Your Rewards

The best approach towards getting a rewards card is finding one that best matches your spending habits. Take some time to review your bank and/or credit card statements to see where you frequently spend money. If you are a loyal patron of a specific retailer or company, or you spend a good amount in certain categories, such as travel, electronics, gasoline, etc., try to find a corresponding rewards card.

What's the catch with rewards cards?

The annual fees and interest rates can be a bit higher with rewards & points cards, but the benefits may be worth it in the long run. We recommend paying off your credit card bill every month to avoid interest charges.
