How do I report income earned on my own?

I have been looking for ways to earn extra money; I sold some possessions online and did some typing work on my own.  Although I can claim expenses such as supplies and advertising a typing service, can you please tell me how to report income earned on my own on my tax return?

That is something I'd like to know about as the more income one declares, the easier it is to get a better credit card with a low interest rate.  How does one declare income earned on their own?
