Credit Cards Canada » Answers » Question

What recourse do I have when "Infoprotect+" refuses to cancel my service?

I was roped into "Infoprotect+" through MBNA master card- with a free month offer, after which they began to charge me $11.19 per month for a service that I will never use. I have tried to cancel twice. I either get placed on hold, or bullied by some representative to "just keep the service for another month". I am getting really sick of this. I will likely cancel my credit card as a result- sadly, as I have had the MBNA card for many years. It is not fair that a company should rope people in, and then not offer the means by which they can cancel useless "services".

That stinks! You should definitely call them back and demand they cancel the service immediately. You could also call MBNA and complain about the charges if Infoprotect+ refuses to give real customer service. I'm pretty sure a lot of credit card companies offer that same service, so it's not just MBNA. I do wish the credit card companies would think of the consumer before allowing other companies to sell you stuff you probably don't need.

Let us know how it goes...I'm guessing others have had similar issues and could gain from your experience.
